William Harris 1946-2016

William (Bill) Leigh Harris, 69, of Wills Point, died March 3, 2016, in a Tyler hospital after suffering a stroke.

Mr. Harris was born in Miami, Fla. Aug. 12, 1946, to Leigh P. Harris and Barbara R. Harris.

He married the love of his life, Sherry Blanton Harris, on May 21, 1984 in Dallas. They moved to Wills Point from Garland in 1985.

 He was a member of The International Union of Operating Engineers, and was a crane operator for many years. He retired from Crocker Crane/Davis Crane in 2010.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry A. Harris of Wills Point; four children, Christine Harris Arnold of Noblesville Ind., William “Bud” Harris of Indiana, Lori Thornton of Rockwall and Jessica Harris of Wills Point; 10 grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; his mother,  Barbara R. Harris of Crescent City,  Fla.; and one sister Barbara Harris Fender of Welaka, Fla.

His wishes to be cremated are being taken care of by Ingram Funeral Homes in Quinlan and there may be a memorial service at a later date.
