Food pantry fundraiser planned

Community organizers are putting together a program to feed high school kids who don’t have the resources to feed themselves on the weekend.

There is a backpack program for the younger kids. Through the support of the school and different organizations, the program provides nutritious food on the weekend.

“There are several kids at the high school level who are also in need of help and we are in the process of putting together a food pantry to help these kids,” organizers said..

There will be a fundraising ‘Gospel Glory Concert’ at 7 p.m. April 9 at WPHS to help this cause.

“The hope is that all the churches, businesses and individuals will come together to support this,” organizers said. “If your church has a praise band, choir, etc. that would like to perform at the concert, be sure to let us know. This is going to be a lot of fun and fellowship!”

The food pantry will be at Calvary Baptist Church. All checks should be made out to Calvary Baptist Church Food Pantry and mailed to Calvary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 425, Wills Point, TX 75169.

“Also, there will be a need to have a monthly commitment from as many churches, businesses or individuals as possible to make this be an ongoing event,” organizers said. “You can donate money or nonperishable food items.”
