Everett to speak to Society

The Van Zandt County Genealogical Society will hold its monthly meeting at 2 p.m.  March 26 at the Senior Citizens Building in Canton located at 200 W. Groves St. 

This change in location is for the March meeting only. 

The program will be “The Runaway Scrape…A Living Portrayal of Dilue Rose Harris” presented by Lou Ann Everett. 

Everett was born and raised in Van Zandt County.  Her great-grandparents arrived here in 1845 and a great-grandfather served as the Baptist Missionary to Van Zandt County in 1896.  She is  a member of Jesse Miller Foster Chapter UDC, a member of Daughters of the Republic of Texas, is retired from Trinity Valley Community College in Terrell and is currently the mayor of Canton.  

The genealogical society meetings are always open to the public and all are welcome to attend, organizers said.
