Mrs. Candy died March 5, 2016.

She was born  May 11, 1917, in Comanche, Okla., to parents Kathryn Benson Malone and Benjamin Malone.

Upon completion of her education, she worked at Fort Sill, Okla.  There she met and married Col. Joe E Candy, U.S. Army, on March 12, 1936.  She and Joe had their only child, Joe E. Candy Jr., who in his adult years went on to become the Commissioner of Softball for the State of Oklahoma, and was later inducted into the Oklahoma Softball Hall of Fame.

In 1968, she moved to Norman, Okla., where she worked 20 years for Oklahoma University as head bookkeeper in the loans department.

After a successful battle with cancer she moved to Greenville to be near her loving sister, Maxine Clopton, who has always been her pillar of strength.

A short time later she moved next door to her sister.  She then joined Wills Point First Baptist Church where Adult V + Willing Workers Sunday School Class became her extended family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe E Candy Sr.; son, Joe E Candy Jr; parents, Kathryn and Benjamin Malone; and siblings, Velda Wasmund, Clarence Malone, Lea Renstron, Edwin Malone, and brother-in-law, Bo Clopton.

She is survived by her sisters,  Maxine Clopton and Freda Affetto; brother and sister-in-law Ray and Carol Malone; sisters-in-law, Kay Malone and Doris Malone; nieces, Kathy Wood, Nancy Schmidt and Rosa Allen along with numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews who lovingly call her Auntie Esta.

Thank you goes out to Esta's Care Angels,  Paula Pollard, Violet Lukoviak, Patricia Drost, Beckie Miller, Cynthia Elsey, and Lynne Hood.

Visitation was held March 8, 2016, at Hiett's LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.
