Brownsboro gets past Wills Point, 58-36
The Brownsboro Bears kept Wills Point winless in district play on Tuesday night, picking up a 58-36 win over the home team and clinching a District 14-4A title in the process.
Things were tough in the early going for both teams in the early going, with Brownsboro managing to build a slim 13-8 lead after one quarter of play.
Brownsboro once again edged Wills Point by five points during the second quarter (15-10), extending their lead to 28-18 entering the half.
Third quarter play helped the visiting Bears put the game out of reach, as Brownsboro outscored Wills Point 22-13 to take a commanding 19-point lead entering the fourth quarter.
The Tigers saved their best play for the final quarter, holding Brownsboro to just 8 points to cut the final margin down to 58-36 in favor of the Bears.
Leading scorers for the Tigers included Doug Sheldon with 12 points, Robert Smith with 8, Tanner Wallace with 7, Matt Mayfield with 4, Jacob Davis with 2 and Caden Petrey with 2.
Wills Point is scheduled to wrap up its home schedule with a Senior Night contest against Van tonight (Feb. 12). The Tigers will finish their District 14-4A season Feb. 16 with a road game against Emory Rains.
