Mrs. Davis died Feb. 11, 2016, at the age of 89. She was surrounded by her loving family in her home in Garland where she had lived for 58 years.
She leaves four daughters, seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. All knew her well, and flocked to her home for holiday gatherings around her table.
She was all about family. Born in 1926, near Wills Point in Van Zandt County, she picked cotton in the Depression years and married Juell Davis in the war years.
She was employed as an insurance underwriter while raising four daughters and in 1980 expanded the house for Christmas gatherings as grandchildren arrived.
Her husband, Juell, passed away in 1999. She then spent her time growing beautiful gardens and took up with a schnauzer named Cuda, who became her faithful sidekick of 13 years.
She always she set a great table. We will all miss her scrambled eggs, fluffy biscuits and end-of-world fried chicken.
Her door was always open, kind words of welcome always on her lips, and love always in her heart.
Wife, friend, mother, grandmother, and matriarch of the family, she lives now in our hearts and memories.
She is preceded in death by parents, Sheardy Isaiah Lamb and Nora Lamb; and husband, Juell Davis.
She is survived by daughters, Paula Renka and husband Russell, Elaine Kirchenbauer, Kathleen Burlew and husband, Gene and Deborah Bokman and husband, Jas.
