Netters continue fall season

Nash Pendleton positions himself near the baseline to return a shot during Tiger tennis action last week.

The Wills Point fall tennis season continued to be in full swing over the past week, with the Tigers taking part in matches against both Kaufman and All Saints over the course of the past week. The Tiger tennis team played Kaufman at home Jan. 19, splitting matches at 10-10 with the Lion program.

Match scores against Kaufman included:

-Jack Johns lost to Derian Hernandez, 6-3, 4-6, 10-12; lost to Rudy Perez, 8-9 7-9

-Michael Durham lost to Rudy Perez, 1-6, 1-6; lost to Derian Hernandez, 0-8

-Cassidy Wilcoxson def. Holli Hutto, 6-0, 6-0; def. Megan Scales, 6-3, 6-0

-Maddie Brown lost to Megan Scales, 3-6, 0-6; lost to Holli Hotto, 1-8

-Patrick Petzold/Chase Daniell def. Val Fernandez/Jacob Mays, 4-6, 6-3, 10-5; def. Kimbrell/Owens, 8-4

-Nash Pendleton/Heldon Hoierman def. Kimbrell/Owens, 6-3, 7-6; def. Fernandez/Mays, 8-2

-Kaitlin Perez/Maddie Booth lost to Cordero/Owen, 4-6, 6-2 8-10; def. Darragh/Kelly, 8-2

-Maddie Baker/Hope Turner lost to Darragh/Kelley, 4-6, 4-6; lost to Cordero/Owen, 5-8

-Kolton Adams/Kelsey James lost to Davis/Patterson, 4-6, 6-2, 9-11; def. Dominguez/Hall, 9-8 (7-9)

-Kameron McEnturff/Claire Hiler def. Dominguez/Hall, 6-4, 6-1; def. Davis/Patterson, 8-6

Wills Point followed up its matches against Kaufman by taking on ALl Saints Jan. 22. The Tigers came out victorious in those matches, winning 10/16 matches played.

Coach Ann Daniell stated, "We had some really great matches. We are very proud of our kids! They are off to a great start!" Wills Point was scheduled to take on in county rival Van Jan. 26.
