Sandra Jones congratulates Van Zandt County Genealogical Society Volunteer of the Year Tom Tyler

At the Van Zandt County Genealogical Society’s monthly meeting Jan. 23, Tom Tyler of Canton was recognized as Volunteer of the Year for 2015.

An entertaining program was presented by Benja Mize of Canton to install the new officers.

Officers for the new year are President Jan Crow; First Vice President Ellen Wheeler; Second Vice President Beth Gordon; Recording Secretary Sylvia Barbee; Corresponding Secretary Sandra Jones; Treasurer Scott Fitzgerald; Publicity Sherrie Archer; Directors at- Large Shirley Fuller and Tom Tyler; Quarterly Editor Laurie McDonald; Webmaster Angela Jobe; and Parliamentarian Donna Carter.

The genealogical society meetings are held at 2 p.m.the fourth Saturday of each month except December, in the Buchanan Room of the Van Zandt County Library.  The meetings are open to the public and all are warmly welcomed, organizers said.
