Edwin Brown 1940-2016

Funeral services for Edwin “Vance” Brown, 75, of Wills Point, were held Jan. 24, 2016, at International Outreach Church in Wills Point.

Services were under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.

Mr. Brown died Jan. 21, 2016, in Kaufman.

He was born July 27, 1940 in Colon, Panama to parents, Robert William Brown and Alma Gail Bramin. He moved to the states at age 7 and was raised in southern California and graduated from Temple City High School in Temple City, Calif.

He achieved his Eagle Scout status and later attended Pasadena City College. He served in the United States Navy from July 14, 1958, to April 13, 1961, as a master electrician aboard The USS Eugene A. Grene.

He and Diane met and married in Arcadia, Calif. Feb. 16, 1963. They lived in Temple City, Calif. and later moved to Huntington Beach. His job moved them to numerous states around the country.

He worked as a chemical engineer for the Dry Clean and Laundry Industry. They moved to Texas in the late 1970s and eventually to Wills Point in 1997 to make their home.

He and Diane bought “The Donut Shop” in Wills Point the same year. He considered this job his favorite until selling and permanently retiring in 2011.

He and Diane were members of International Outreach Church in Wills Point. They were also named Wills Point Citizen of the year in 2004, where they served as members of the Chamber of Commerce and the Pilot Club. He enjoyed cooking, building things out of stained glass and loved playing with his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert William and Alma Gail Brown; brother, Wayne Brown; and great-grandchild, Julian Corbett.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Brown of Wills Point; sons, Darren Brown and wife, Amanda of Wills Point and J.B. Brown and wife, Pam of Blue Ridge; daughter, Stacey Hernandez and husband, Alberto of Blue Ridge; brothers, Bill Brown and wife, Diane of Atlanta, Ga. and Rob Brown of San Clemente, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
