Wiley weeks re-election to Constable Pct. 2 post

C.B. Wiley has filed for re-election as Precinct 2 Constable.

Wiley began his law enforcement career almost 50 years ago as a police officer. He served as Van Zandt Justice Of the Peace prior to being elected to his current post as constable of Precinct 2.
As a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education certified peace officer and instructor, Wiley is a Master Peace Officer with many hours training in every field of police work, he said.
“I know the law and the duties and responsibility of a constable as I’ve done the job serving Van Zandt County for many years,” He said.
Wiley said he will respond to the citizens “24/7 or any time you need help.”
Wiley also founded the Van Zandt County Bloodhound Team, which consists of 22 man-tracking bloodhounds, about 35 years ago. The team looks for lost children and elderly, as well as fugitives as they attempt to evade law enforcement officers.
Wiley is a past member of the Canton Lions Club, American Cancer Society President, and First Monday 100-Year Centennial President. He was also selected as the 2001 Citizen of the Year.
He and his wife Mary have been married for over 50 years and have three children who attended Canton ISD. They also have four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. His family owns and operates Wiley’s Gun Shop which has been in business for 44 years.
“I have worked hard to keep the peace and serve the citizens of Van Zandt County. I have worked to cut wasteful spending and still improve the efficiency of the office. I am always open for all citizens,” Wiley said.
Wiley said he has a good working relationship with all police departments in and out of the county. He said he believes all law enforcement should work together and his department will continue to do so as long as he is constable.
