Tigers fall short in 39-29 loss

Offense proved to be a rare commodity this week for both the Wills Point Tigers and visiting Ferris Yellowjackets, with the two teams combining for a low scoring affair Dec. 15. The Yellowjackets eventually prevailed in the game, taking a 39-29 win back home to Ferris.
Play in the first quarter heavily favored the visiting team, with Ferris taking an 11-4 lead after eight minutes of play.
The Tigers were able to chip away one point during a frustrating second quarter, outscoring Ferris 6-5 to trail 16-10 heading into the half.
Both offenses delivered their best performances of the night in the third quarter, but the Yellowjackets retained the upper hand by gaining a 32-22 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The final frame would turn into a 7-7 deadlock, allowing Ferris to close out the 10-point win, 39-29.
The Tigers are scheduled to play in Mineola today (Dec. 18) before hosting Crandall Dec. 21 at 3 p.m. Wills Point will then enter the holiday break before returning to action Dec. 28-30 at the Allen Holiday Tournament.
