Lady Tigers to cap busy stretch

The Wills Point Lady Tigers have shouldered a heavy workload in recent weeks, participating in both tournament and non-district play.

Over the most recent weekend, Dec. 10-12, Wills Point traveled to Edgewood to participate in the 49th annual Lady Dog Tournament.

Wills Point came out of the gates strong, knocking off Bonham 50-40 in their tournament opener Dec. 10.

The Lady Tigers returned to the court the following day, hanging tough before falling to the eventual third-place finishers in the tournament North Forney by a score of 56-44.

With the loss, Wills Point was sent to compete against Bonham for the second time in three days. The Lady Tigers performed even better during the second matchup against the Lady Warriors, rolling to a 41-17 win over Bonham.

The Lady Tigers closed out tournament play on a down note, dropping a 50-45 heartbreaker to the Mineola Lady Jackets Dec. 12.

Wills Point returned to the court Dec. 15, playing host to the Ferris Yellowjackets. The Lady Tiger offense struggled to find its footing in the contest, dropping a 64-28 decision.

Wills Point is scheduled to host Community tonight (Dec. 18) beginning at 5 p.m. before entering the lengthy Christmas break. Action for the Lady Tigers is set to resume with play at the Kaufman Tournament Dec. 28-29 and a home game against Dallas Thunder Jan. 5 before district play begins Jan. 8 against Van.
