Suspect arrested following assault at local restaurant

Wills Point Police Department officers were dispatched to a local restaurant Nov. 10 after receiving a call regarding an alleged assault that had taken place just before 3 p.m.

According to a narrative of the incident, officers received a call at approximately 3 p.m. “to 127 N. Fourth Street in reference to an assault that had already taken place.”

After arriving on scene, officers made contact with the alleged victim who advised that a suspect, later identified as 23-year old Taylor Lorene White of Wills Point, entered the store through the front door, made her way through the employee entrance near the back of the restaurant and “began hitting her.”

Another witness turned victim in the incident advised officers that “he tried to break up the victim and Taylor [White] fighting and that while trying to do so was bitten in the left forearm.”

Other witnesses and coworkers at the restaurant corroborated details of the alleged assault as well, adding that a grandmother that had accompanied White to the restaurant attempted to “break up the fight” and apologized for the incident as “she pulled White out of the front door to leave.”

In addition to eye witness interviews, the WPPD obtained copies of surveillance footage of the incident. On Nov. 11, a day after the alleged assault took place, Taylor Lorene White was arrested on several charges stemming from the incident, including a warrant for Assault with Bodily Injury.

White was also issued two additional Class C Misdemeanors for Disorderly Conduct and Assault by Contact, and given a criminal trespass warning.
