Small Business Saturday kicks off events
As the annual hustle and bustle of the upcoming holidays continues to inch ever closer, the Wills Point Chamber of Commerce is issuing a reminder about upcoming events sure to delight locals and visitors alike.
Small Business Saturday
Small Business Saturday, a shopping holiday conceived and launched by American Express to promote local small businesses, will celebrate its fifth anniversary Nov. 28. The event stresses the ideas of promoting local small businesses.
The Wills Point Chamber of Commerce noted, “The goal is to grow Wills Point, generate interest and excitement in our community and to provide our small businesses visibility that the power in numbers can create.”
Christmas on the Bricks
Christmas, complete with Santa Claus in tow, will once again hit the Wills Point area a little early in 2015 as the annual Christmas on the Bricks celebration will take over the downtown area Dec. 12 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
The event, sponsored by Citizen’s National Bank, will include family favorites like the Texas Fire Alarm sponsored car show, Russell Memorial United Methodist Church sponsored Breakfast with Santa, TVEC sponsored 5k Reindeer Run and live entertainment.
Additionally, vendors selling food, crafts and arts will be onsite. Organizers have also announced that this year’s parade, always a big draw for the community, will carry a Christmas in the Movies-theme in 2015.
Information about Christmas on the Bricks, any of the scheduled events, or to become a vendor or participant, can be found by contacting the chamber at 903-873-3111.
BRICK$ BUCK$
The Wills Point Chamber of Commerce has also announced that the winner of the second annual BRICK$ BUCK$ campaign, designed to encourage shopping local, will take place at 3 p.m. on the same day as Christmas on the Bricks.
According to the chamber, “The participating local businesses receive rolls of numbered tickets (2000 in each roll). Customers will receive one (FREE) ticket just for coming into your business, and for every $10.00 they spend, up to $1000, they will receive additional tickets. They can receive up to 101 tickets per visit.”
Participating businesses distributing tickets include: 20/20 Vision Care, 24 Market, Adele's, Bruce & Human Drug Store, Computer Image Concepts, Dairy Queen, Dr. Kimberly Neiman, Fairway Shoe Store, Grace Tanning & Salon, The Green House, Lone Star Grill, Milano's Pizza, Mitchell Oil Company, Pudgy's Mexican Food, Ramsey's Roadhouse & Pub, Sweethearts Gifts, and Wills Point Hardware.
Tickets will be distributed by participating retailers until Dec. 12, with the drawing scheduled for 3 p.m. at the main stage of the Christmas on the Bricks event. The winning ticket for the BRICK$ BUCK$ promotion will be worth $5,000. The person and their winning ticket must be present to win.
In a press release, the Chamber noted, “Last year we had held our first ever BRICKS BUCKS - Shop Local Holiday Promotion! It was a fantastic program and the participating business gave it rave reviews. We also learned a little along the way. We believe that shopping local is the key to having a vital community and we know you will want to be a part of your Chamber promoting local businesses during the 2015 holiday season!
