The Barn Fellowship celebrates building dedication along with a Gospel Jubilee

The Barn Fellowship, located at 220 Hwy 110 in Grand Saline, will be dedicating their new facility at 6 p.m. Saturday evening, Aug. 29.

“Along with the dedication there will be a Southern Gospel Jubilee Concert with the Bent Bucket Band from Athens that will make you want to tap your foot, slap your knee and clap your hands!” organizers said.

The Barn Fellowship is a country church in fellowship with the Southern Baptist Convention, Texas Baptist and the Kauf-Van Baptist Association.

The church began just over four years ago as a mission of the Round Em’ Cowboy Church in Wills Point and met in a horse sale barn on I-20 for three years. In February 2014 the church moved to a storefront in Grand Saline and in early 2015 was able to purchase property on Hwy. 110 in Grand Saline.

Members and friends of the church have spent countless volunteer hours repairing, remodeling and painting the facility to make comfortable for a non-traditional country style of worship, they said..

According to information from the church, its mission is three fold: 1.  Present the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Pastor Jerry Truett said he doesn’t deal with political nor social issues from the pulpit because “folks need to hear the Word of God;” 2.  Tear down all traditional barriers that hinder folks from attending church. “Come as you are is encouraged, but please dress modestly,” church officials said; and 3.  Develop an atmosphere of “welcome to anyone and everyone that walks through our door.”

The program will consist of a welcome by Pastor Truett, a couple of congregation songs led by the Barn Fellowship’s own Barnyard Band and a concert by the Bent Bucket Band.

Bro. Ernie McCoulskey, director of Missions for the Kauf-Van Baptist Association, will explain how associational work helps start churches and then Dr. Charles Higgs will bring some words of encouragement and dedication of the building.

“We invite any and all to come check us out,” church officials said. “We know you will be glad that you did!”
