Mildred Green 1919-2015
Funeral services for Mildred Alene Green, 96, of Wills Point, were held Thursday, July 23, 2015, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Rev. Don Tisdale officiating. Interment followed in the Green family plot at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point.
On the morning of July 20, 2015, Mildred passed away peacefully of natural causes at her home in Wills Point. She was surrounded by her loving family when she stepped into the shining light of God at the age of 96.
Mildred was born on April 23, 1919, in Decatur, Ala., the third child of James and Gladys Goode. Her father moved the family to the Wills Point area in 1920, when Mildred was nine months old. In 1925, at age six, Mildred’s mother passed away. She was forced to grow up at an early age and be responsible for her family. This helped create the incredibly organized, loving and responsible character that she embodied all her life. Her strength was matched only by her kindness and compassion. Her father later married Floy Parker who became a much loved step-mother. Mildred attended elementary and junior high school in Myrtle Springs and graduated from Wills Point High School in 1937. On April 13, 1937, she secretly married Frank Booth Green Jr. in Durant, Okla. just before their graduation. They remained married for the next 61 years. During World War II, while Frank was in the Army Air Corps, Mildred worked at North American Aviation, where she helped build the airplanes that took America to victory. Later in the war, she and her oldest son moved to Del Rio to be with her husband. While living there she took a job in the Civil Service. After Frank was released from the service Mildred became a stay at home mom raising three boys. She often said her children were her whole life; she showered her family with that love in every way possible. Her husband, Frank, worked for Halliburton Company until retirement and then brought Mildred back to Wills Point. Frank took a position as Tax Assessor/Collector for the Wills Point Schools and Mildred worked for 10 years at the elementary school. Upon her retirement, Frank and Mildred traveled with friends touring most of the United States. Mildred was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wills Point.
