Bobby Parker 1937-2015
Funeral services for Bobby B. Parker, 78, of Edgewood, were held Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at the First Baptist Church in Edgewood. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery. Services were under direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood.
Bobby Passed away July 12, 2015, in Tyler.
Bobby Brooks Parker was born June 4, 1937, in Edgewood to the late Enoch Cornelius Parker and Grace Lucille Wilder Parker. Bobby attended public school in Edgewood and following graduation, he attended Kilgore Junior College and East Texas State University. An outstanding football player, Bobby earned All-Conference and All-American honors and was drafted by the Oakland Raiders.
Bobby worked as a teacher and coach in the Kaufman, Mesquite and Edgewood School Districts for 33 years, providing inspiration and guidance to generations of students.
In 1957, he married the love of his life, Patricia Anne Wells and they were married fifty-eight years and raised two daughters, Kellianne and Karrye.
Bobby was active in the Edgewood Historical Society, serving as a founding member and president. He and Pattye operated Willow Pond Bed and Breakfast.
He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Edgewood and served as a deacon for many years.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Pattye Parker of Edgewood; daughters, Kellianne Wittie and husband, Vance, of Heath, and Karrye McCarthy and husband, Paul, of Sherman; grandchildren, Megan Turner and husband, Colt; Emily McCarthy, Kyle McCarthy and Matthew McCarthy; great-grandchild, Madeline Turner and many other relatives and friends.
He leaves behind a legacy of faith, honorable service and love.
