Michael McDaniel 1941-2015

Memorial services for Michael “Mike” McDaniel, 73, of Wills Point, will be held Saturday, May 23, 2015, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point. 

Interment will be at Campground Cemetery in Poetry near Terrell.

He passed away Thursday morning, May 14, 2015, due to a short but hard fight with cancer at his residence near Lake Tawakoni with his family by his side. 

Mike, also known as Papa Mac, was born July 16, 1941, in Dallas, the son of Jimmy and Jean McDaniel.  He was raised in Wills Point and Dallas.  In 1959, he graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School.  Mike went into the family car business, McDaniel Brothers Used Cars in Dallas for 17 years.  He later retired from Chem Coast in LaPorte, where he helped build the company.  Mike lived in LaPorte for 24 years prior to moving back to Wills Point in October 2012.  He was a “jack of all trades,” he could work on anything and was an avid collector.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Kent McDaniel.

Mike is survived by two sons, Scott McDaniel and wife, Diane of Keller and Kelly McDaniel and wife, Cheryl of Pearland; two daughters, Jennifer McDaniel of Des Moines, Iowa and Laura Michelle Kirby and husband, Brady of Quinlan; sister, Deborah Murray of Fort Worth; 10 grandchildren, Blaine McDaniel and wife Dana, Casey McDaniel, Jordan McDaniel, Brandon McDaniel and wife Christi, Chace McDaniel, Amber Cox,           Justin Cox, Tori Nelson, Kellan and Campbell Kirby; and two great-grandchildren, Dillan and Bucannon McDaniel
